15th International Exhibition of Defense Industry IDEF-2021

Recently, one of the largest events in the world of armaments and military equipment took place in Istanbul – the 15th International Exhibition of the Defense Industry IDEF-2021.

As the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Defense Industry and Technical Modernization of the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, I was the member of the official Ukrainian delegation headed by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleh Urusky, and had the opportunity to get acquainted with the world's modern defense technologies and systems in various sectors of the defense industry, the latest developments in military equipment offered for export to world weaponry markets, including products of leading Turkish companies – ASELSAN, Roketsan, TAI, TEI, STM.

During the signing of the contract with the Turkish side on the establishment of a powerful modern helicopter overhaul service center, I was once again convinced that our fruitful cooperation is in the strategic interests of Ukraine-Turkey.

Within the framework of the joint exposition of Ukroboronprom, the enterprises of the Ukrainian defense industry demonstrated their military capabilities by presenting to the world community their products: Scif anti-aircraft missile system, Vilkha missile, Kvitnyk-E laser guided projectile, cruise missile R-360 "Neptune", a model of a composite floating dock project 1760KR with a submarine, a missile boat "Bogomol" project 58208 and a multifunctional boat "Kaira-150", developed by SE "Research and Design Center for Shipbuilding" from Mykolaiv, and other models of weapons.

During the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, Dr. Çetin Ali Dönmez, the President of the Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Council TÜBİTAK, Professor Hassan Mandal and the CEO of Baykar Makina – Haluk Bayraktar, a number of joint agreements were reached on the effectiveness of a number of ongoing projects and outlined the necessary steps for harmonization and development of bilateral cooperation.

We also agreed with the Turkish side on the joint development of our countries' capabilities in the aviation and space industries, in particular on the construction of aircraft engines, joint use of outer space, creation of rocket carriers and satellite platforms, etc.

Within the framework of parliamentary cooperation, we talked about improving Ukrainian legislation in the areas of defense procurement, investment and offset policy in order to remove obstacles and create favorable conditions for the organization of military cooperation with other countries.
